The Westall High school UFO sighting is an event which occurred at approximately 11:00 am on April 6th, 1966. The event lasted 20 minutes and during which time more than 200 people including students and teachers at the Victoria State School witnessed an unidentified flying object (UFO) descending into the nearby open wild grass fields. Afterwards, the object ascended towards the north-western direction of the Melbourne suburb of Clayton South Victoria.
The descriptions given by the witnesses were mixed. Andres Greenwood, a science teacher at the high school described the UFO as being a slivery-green disc. While a group of students and their teacher who were finishing their sports class in the school’s main oval while the event happened described seeing a grey saucer with a slight purplish hue. There are even some witnesses who say that they saw five other unidentified aircrafts apparently chasing the bigger UFO.
Investigations soon began after the UFO incident. These investigations were headed by two groups: The Victorian Flying Saucer Research Society and the Phenomena Research Australia. The groups referred to the incident as being one of Australia’s major unexplained UFO case. A television station, Channel 9, ran a news report about the incident with one of the witnesses, a student named Joy Tighe describing the event for the reporter. Curiously, a copy of this interview is not available. Channel 9 said that the tape was removed from the archive and was never returned. The tape was never found and is not forever lost. Or is it?
